About Us
The Sanford Guide:
Providing Comprehensive Infectious Diseases Treatment Recommendations,
At The Point of Care.
• The Sanford Guide is widely recognized as the "gold standard" reference for treatment of infectious diseases. For more than 40 years, the Sanford Guide has focused on one core purpose-to provide health care professionals with comprehensive, evidence-based treatment recommendations for use at the point of care.
• For decades, the Sanford Guide pocket edition was a staple in lab coat pockets around the world. Today the content is available in a wide array of digital and print formats: Apps for smart phones and tablets (iOS and Android), Web Edition and print editions in a range of sizes and bindings.
• Developed by Jay P. Sanford, M.D., the first edition in 1969 was the outgrowth of a medical grand rounds handout on newer antibacterial agents. Today's editorial board is comprised of leading experts in the field of infectious diseases from major academic medical centers in the United States. Globally, the editorial effort is augmented by contributions from experts in Belgium, China, Japan and Poland.
• Sanford Guide digital content is updated on an ongoing basis with regular updates to Apps and the Web Edition. The print editions are updated annually. With resistance to antibacterial agents increasing at an alarming pace, management of resistant gram-positive organisms, such as MRSA, and multi-drug resistant gram-negative bacilli, such as E. coli, poses particular challenges to clinicians, pharmacists and nursing staff. All editions of the Sanford Guide reflect current best-evidence recommendations for treatment of bacterial, fungal, mycobacterial, parasitic, viral and retroviral infections-utilizing cutting edge technology for our digital editions as well as continuing refinements to our print editions.
